Top Tips for CAS

Choose experiences you know you will enjoy!

The more you do this, the more likely you will stick to it and feel motivated to reflect on. For example, try choosing experiences similar to your hobbies.

Try new things!

CAS gives you a great opportunity to have fun whilst completing the IB program. Some of our favourite memories in high school come from our service events (read more below).

Set a goal for yourself to reflect on at least three of your experiences per month.

This is a manageable amount - meaning you are more likely to stick to it and feel less overwhelmed closer to the due date.

QUARANTINE SPECIFIC:
- Start a Youtube channel
- Help younger students through a form of 'online tutoring'
- Teach yourself and instrument
- Join a charity and help raise awareness
- Start an online course as your creativity project
- Create a Depop account

CAS PROJECT
The Namibia Project is a rigorous expedition which includes a year of preparation and planning, culminating in a month-long in-country service trip. This experience combines the three CAS strands and allows students to reflect on new skills such as communication, teamwork, planning, and time management skills.

CHARITY; PassOnHope
There are all sorts of charities that are out there; PassOnHope is one. Often, being part of a charity helps you develop skills outside academics. PoH is a charity that strives to bring happiness to Palestinian refugee children through sports. This charity has held a wide range of events including 5-aside football tournaments, spinning sessions, a gala dinner and bake-sales.

School Run Events; Fashion Show
From the annual prom to the fashion show, there is surely a school run event for you. The fashion show takes places every year during early spring & its planning begins in September. The amount of time you spend working on it heavily depends on your role. This event is filled with a variation of roles where you have the option to choose one you are passionate about. Examples include; backstage, stylists and preforming.

Creativity
- learn a new language with Duolingo
- work through different recipes
- create a helpful website

Activity
- many studios are hosting online fitness classes for free, try them out while you can
- set a goal for yourself every day to walk/run 5k a day
- try out yoga, lots of instructors are hosting live sessions

Service
- organise items to give away to a designated charity
- raise money for the NHS through a planned fundraiser (you could incorporate activity with this and get people to sponsor your exercise)
- join campaigns online
