Top Tips for EE

1.

Pick a topic you are truly interested in! Try not to rush into this project (you have plenty of time), so make sure a lot of time and effort goes into your initial planning. This is approximately a two year long project, you do not want to be research an area you aren't passionate and curious about.

2.

Make sure your topic is not too broad, nor too specific. If it is too broad, you will have far too much to say and will most likely not be able to remain under word count. Whereas on the contrary, if it is too specific, you might struggle with reaching the word count.

3.

Time management is key; make sure you work on your EE at least once a week beginning from the day it is properly assigned.

4.

Make the most out of your IB Year 1 summer. Try to complete the bulk of your primary

and/or secondary during these months; this will drastically help you in the first semester of your final year.

5.

Stay on track. It is easy to forget and gradually drift away from your EE work, leaving it until the last moment. So avoid this by creating a schedule and ensure you stick to it.

6.

Keep count of your citations right from the beginning! This is really important as you do not want to end up searching for hours trying to find the websites, articles, books that you used months ago. Have a separate document/page for a bibliography and make sure to continue adding to it when necessary.

7.

Make the most out of resources! Whether it be the EE examples in the library, your family or a teacher - always strive to deepen your knowledge and understanding on the topic you're writing about.
